SHOWCASE AWARDS

At a gala function held at the Brisbane Convention Centre Sandgate won the Showcase Award for Excellence in Middle Schooling with our Mathematics program.

Sandgate took out the prestigious award by clearly demonstrating how our Mathematics curriculum and in particular the Dirty Mathematics program and teaching dramatically improves student results from Year 8-12.

Bungee Barbie and measuring skeletons are just two of the fun and inovative parts of the program to engage the students.

OUR NETBALL TEAM IS THE BEST SECONDARY SCHOOL TEAM IN QUEENSLAND

Our Open Netball team competed in the Vicki Wilson Cup State Finals on the weekend of the 11th & 12th October. The girls won the Metropolitan North regional pool, defeating some well known private schools.

Enrolment interviews for Year 8 in 2010 are being held in the first week of December 2009. Please ring the school ofice to arrange an interview time.

50th Anniversary Book

We still have a few copies of the 50th Anniversary Book left for purchase.

This limited edition historical book  includes the names of students enrolled at Sandgate in the first 50 years as well as photos, anecdotes, local, state and national historical notes. The books are printed on quality paper and hand leather bound.

UNIFORM STANDARDS

Thank you to all our parents and guardians for supporting our uniform policy. Thank you also to our student body who wear the Sandgate District State High School Uniform with pride.

The colder weather is upon us. A reminder that the only acceptable winter attire is as follows:

The only jacket to be worn is the school jacket. The only jumper to be worn is a plain maroon knitted or wincheater type jumper. Boys and girls may wear long maroon teslon pants with their sports shirts.Boys may wear college greys with their formal uniform.Girls may wear black tights with their formal skirts.
