IBIS team

 

​(IBIS) I believe in support team

The IBIS team works with students in these three social justice areas:
 
English as a second language (ESL) Indigenous education learning support  
 
English as a second language (ESL)
 
ESL students come from a non-English speaking background and have identifiable second language development needs in English.

Indigenous Education

Indigenous Students are those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.  The programme is supported with ‘closing the gap’ funding which is provided to specifically address improving the performance of students in literacy, monitoring and improving attendance rates, Year 12 retention and post school placement.

Learning Support

Learning support students are those who have been identified as having a learning difficulty.  The school takes NAPLAN results, standardised testing results and students’ academic results to identify students who are requiring extra literacy support.
 
In summary, the team advocates for students liaises with teachers, parents, and the wider school community Works in consultation with teachers identifies eligible students provides resources advises on current practices and strategies and monitors and reviews student progress
